Profiles

FinishLynx supports the concept of profiles. A profile can be used to store configuration and camera settings, as well as an associated language file or splash screen for a particular sport or application. When a profile is used, all of the settings are saved to the current profile when FinishLynx is closed, and re-loaded the next time FinishLynx is started. This makes it easy to switch from one application to the next (like track to cross-country and back, for example) without having to manually change each setting one at a time.

ClosedHOW TO CREATE NEW NEW PROFILE?
  • To create a new profile:
  1. Go to File | Create Profile...
  2. Enter a name for this new profile.
  3. Hit Enter.
NOTE: New profiles start with the standard FinishLynx default settings.
ClosedHOW TO LOAD AN EXISTING PROFILE?
  • To load a profile:
  1. Go to File | Options... | General.
  2. Select the profile from the profile from the Profile:* list.
  3. Click Ok.
  4. Restart FinishLynx.
NOTE: When a custom profile is loaded, the application title bar will show the <profilename>.
TIP: You can create custom splash screens for each profile by saving a <profilename>.tga (Targa) and renaming the extension .tgs.
ClosedHOW TO SAVE/UPDATE A PROFILE?
  • To save a profile:
    • Simply close FinishLynx. The current Options, Camera Settings, selected Language will be saved to the current profile.
NOTE: Camera Settings are saved for the cameras currently in used. If different cameras are used, they will have the standard default settings initially, but will save the new settings moving forward.
ClosedHOW TO USE FINISHLYNX WITHOUT A PROFILE?

By default, FinishLynx will start with the <standard> profile. This uses the same settings as the legacy FinishLynx configuration. If you are using a different profile, you can always go back to this <standard> profile.

  • To go back to the standard profile:
  1. Go to File | Options... | General.
  2. Select <standard> from the Profile:* list.
  3. Click Ok.
  4. Restart FinishLynx.
ClosedHOW TO RESET A PROFILE?

It is possible to reset the current profile to the standard FinishLynx default values by deleting the <profilename>.cfg/cdf files.

  • To reset a profile:
  1. Go to Help | System Info...
  2. Check the boxes to delete the .cfg (software configuration) and/or .cdf (camera settings).
  3. Click Ok.
  4. Restart FinishLynx.
ClosedHOW DO I KNOW WHICH PROFILE IS CURRENTLY USED?

The easiest way to know is to look at the application title bar at the top of the FinishLynx main window. The name of the current profile appears in brackets, unless the standard profile is in use.

NOTE: Profiles save a dedicated <profilename>.cfg and <profilename>.cdf. These files are saved when FinishLynx exits and loaded when FinishLynx starts.
