FinishLynx Computer Configuration

Before taking photo-finish images and fully automatic times, the computer running FinishLynx must be configured properly. To check that your computer is compatible with a FinishLynx system, see Computer Requirements.

ClosedHOW TO INSTALL FINISHLYNX SOFTWARE?

FinishLynx software and optional plug-ins can be installed by following the prompts on the USB device provided or by downloading the latest version from www.finishlynx.com.

NOTE: All plug-ins MUST be installed in the same directory as the one where main program is. By default, it is recommended for the directory to be C:\Lynx.
ClosedHOW TO INSTALL THE USB-SERIAL DEVICE?

The capture button must be connected to a serial port. To add a serial port to the FinishLynx computer using the USB-Serial device provided, insert the CD supplied with the USB adapter into your computer’s CD drive and follow the instructions to install the driver software.

ClosedHOW TO CONFIGURE THE NETWORK PARAMETERS?

As the connection from your computer to the EtherLynx camera will be established over Ethernet, it is necessary to configure your computer’s Ethernet connection. It is recommended to assign a static IP address to the Network Interface Card to which the camera will be connected.

  • To assign a static IP address:
  1. Go to the Network and Sharing Center.
  2. Click on Change adapter settings (right).
  3. Click to select the Network Interface Card used.
  4. Click Change settings of this connection (top).
  5. Click to select Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4).
  6. Click Properties.
  7. Click Use the following IP address:.
  8. Enter the IP address:
    1. Note: Recommended - 192.168.0.5
  9. Enter the Subnet Mask:
    1. Note: Recommended - 255.255.255.0
  10. Click Ok.
  11. Click Ok.
NOTE: The FinishLynx software will assign the next address above to the camera(s); in this case, 192.168.0.6 then 192.168.0.7, etc. Make sure that no other device on the network has an address just above this of the FinishLynx computer.
TIP: To load EtherLynx cameras, FinishLynx works best when only one Network Interface Card is enabled. Disable all other NICs before the cameras are loaded.
ClosedWHAT ABOUT THE FIREWALL AND ANTI-VIRUS?

In some cases, the computer's firewall or anti-virus software may block communications between the FinishLynx software and EtherLynx cameras. For this reason, it is recommended that these tools be disabled on the FinishLynx computer.
