Images and Videos Export Function
HOW TO EXPORT A FINISHLYNX IMAGE?
FinishLynx images can be exported as a JPEG (.jpg) or Targa (*.tga).
- To export a FinishLynx image, follow these steps:
- With an image open in FinishLynx, right-click and drag the mouse to draw a square around the selection of image you want to export. For example, you may want to draw a square around two competitors involved in a close finish, or the winner of an event.
- Release the mouse button. A drop-down menu appears on the screen.
- Select Export. The Save As dialog appears.
- Navigate to the directory where you want to save the image and then click Save.
- The image is exported to the directory you specified.
NOTE: FinishLynx will remember the last file format used and propose it by default the next time an image is exported.
HOW TO SET THE QUALITY OF EXPORTED IMAGES?
You can now set the quality of FinishLynx images exported in the JPEG (*.jpg) format.
- To do this:
- Click Image from the Menu Bar and select Options...
- At the bottom of the screen, there is an Image Export: JPEG Quality text field with a default value of 75. You can type a new value in this field from 0-100. A higher number creates a better quality and larger image file.
HOW TO DRAW A FIXED SIZE SELECTION BOX?
You can make a sized selection box appear over a FinishLynx image.
- To enable the sized selection box:
- Hold down the SHIFT key while right-clicking on a FinishLynx image.
- The size selection box appears.
NOTE:

You can move the box around using the arrow keys on your keyboard.

The default size of the selection box is: 320 x 240 pixels.
HOW TO ADJUST THE FIXED SIZE SELECTION?
- To change the default size:
- Click Image | Options...
- Go to the Selection: line.
- Enter the desired fixed width.
- Enter the desired fixed height.
- Click Ok.
HOW TO REDUCE THE SIZE OF EXPORTS?
- To reduce the size of exported image or video:
- Click File | Options...
- Click the Image tab.
- Enter a lower percentage value for the scale (1-100).
HOW TO CANCEL THE EXPORT PROCESS?
The status bar progress meter now shows tenths of a percent for 'Export Video' operations that are expected to take a long time:
- When 500 or more frames are being re-compressed and exported
- When 5000 or more frames are being exported (but not re-compressed)
NOTE: Recompression is required when: i) A subset of the entire frame (view) is selected; ii) Overlays are present; iii) Video scale is not 100; iv) The image adjustments are applied; v) Video quality is lower than originally captured.

- To cancel the process:
- Hit the Esc key.
- The status bar message during 'Export Video' includes 'Hit Esc to cancel' to remind users the operation can be canceled by hitting the Escape (Esc) key.
