Wired Starts

A start signal is considered a wired start when it is received by FinishLynx via the Start port in the Connection Box. It can be produced by the sound of a gun, an electronic start system or a tape switch, for example.

ClosedSTART SENSOR

To receive a wired start, the correct type of Start Sensor must be selected.

  • To select the start sensor:
  1. Access the Camera Settings of a timer-enabled EtherLynx camera.
  2. Click on the Inputs Tab.
  3. Click the radio button to select the type of start sensor (Open or Closed) used.
  4. Click Ok.
NOTE: The standard FinishLynx start sensor is Normally Closed (see label on start sensor to confirm).
TIP: The Lynx Electronic Start System requires Normally Open.
ClosedHOW TO CREATE A WIRED START?
  • To do this:

  1. Create a new Event.

  2. Start the race (fire gun, depress tape-switch, etc...).

  •   When the start sensor detects a signal:
  1. A start time is added to the Start Listing
  2. A start line is added in the Information Zone with the start time.
  3. The Armed indicators are removed.
  4. The Running Time box displays the running time.
