Manage Starts

Start signals are required to trigger the timing circuitry in timer-enabled EtherLynx cameras. It is the point of reference used to time-index the FinishLynx images and ultimately allows race results to be produced.

ClosedSTART TYPES
  • Wired Starts A start signal is considered a wired start when it is received by FinishLynx via the Start port in the Connection Box. It can be produced by the sound of a gun, an electronic start system or a tape switch, for example. See Wired Starts for details.
  • Wireless Starts A plug-in is required to use the RadioLynx Wireless Start System. See RadioLynx Wireless Start (RL) Plug-In for details.
  • Manual Starts Instead of responding to an automatic start signal, the timing component of the system can be manually started. See Manual Starts for details.
  • Image Starts FinishLynx can generate a start signal from a captured image. See Image Starts for details.
  • Photo Eye Starts With the Automatic Capture Mode (ACM) Plug-in, FinishLynx can generate a start signal from an internal photo eye break. See Photo Eye Starts for details.
  • Time of Day Starts This function allows to create a start with a defined time of day (TOD). See Time of Day Starts for details.
  • None All EtherLynx images that do not have an associated start signal will be time-indexed with time of day as a reference.
ClosedSTART FUNCTIONS
  • Arming, Re-Arming (False Starts), Disarming These functions will ensure events are ready to receive the next start. See Arming, Re-Arming & Disarming for details.
  • Applying Starts (Missed Starts) FinishLynx can easily recover from a missed start. See Apply Starts for details.
