Additional Start Signal Features
To make it easier to manage start signals, a number of additional features are available.
START SOURCE INDICATOR
The Start Listing indicates the source of each start, as follows:
- m for manual,
- i for image,
- r for RadioLynx,
- p for photoeye (Internal),
- t for time of day,
- l for LapTime, and
- (blank) for a start that comes from a directly connected sensor.
NOTE: From FinishLynx 11.20 and beyond, the start source is displayed in the Information Zone and saved to the Select Start dialog.
HOW TO SYNC TO TIME OF DAY?
There is a feature called Synchronize TOD... which can synchronize the EtherLynx camera time of day reference time to another source. The operator can specify what time it should have been when a certain event occurred; for example, a start signal or an image frame time.
- To sync to a start signal:
- Select the start signal in the Start Listing.
- Click Event | Synchronize TOD... from the Menu bar.
- Select From Start.
- Enter the New time: that should replace to time of day of the selected start.
- Click Ok.
- To sync to an image frame:
- Create a new Event.
- Capture image.
- Select the frame to synchronize to by positioning the hash line.
- Click Event | Synchronize TOD... from the Menu bar.
- Select From Image.
- Enter the New time: that should replace to time of day of the selected start.
- Click Ok.
NOTE: Once Synchronize TOD... is run, all previously received starts are removed, and all previously capturable events are not capturable.
HOW TO SET A START OFFSET?
In special cases such as using the Alge TED TX/RX wireless system, a start offset must be configured.
- To set a start offset:
- Access the Camera Settings.
- Click the Inputs Tab.
- Check the Offset box.
- Enter an offset value.
- The Offset will be applied to all starts coming from the selected camera.
NOTE: When turned on, a warning is immediately displayed. If the user selects cancel then the box is unchecked. Also, when a camera is booted and the default setting has this turned on the same warning is displayed and, again, hitting cancel turns it off.
TIP: 100ms (0.100 seconds) is the default setting to use with the Alge TED TX/RX wireless system.
HOW TO CHANGE THE START SOUNDS?
You can override the default start sound by putting a FinishLynxStart.wav file in your FinishLynx directory (Default: C:\Lynx).
