Templates

There are three available template modes, set in the Event Options.

• None Templates not used.
• Always Choose The operator selects an event to be used as a template each time a new event is created.
• Use Default The operator sets a default template to be used automatically each time a new event is created.

When using the schedule icons to create a new Event, the event name and event-round-heat numbers from the schedule override what is in the template. Any starts, break times, results, etc. saved in the template are deleted.

As each camera is loaded from the template, FinishLynx makes sure there is a real hardware camera with the same name and also that the current leg doesn't already contain that camera. If either of these conditions isn't met then FinishLynx gives an error message and removes the camera from the newly created event.

Preparing a file to later be used as a template is as simple as creating a new event, configuring the event with all the required settings and saving the file.

• To prepare a template file:

1. Create a new Event.
2. Configure settings.
3. Save the Event.

• To choose the template file every time a new event is created:

1. Click Event | Options... from the Menu Bar. The Event tab of the Options dialog appears.
2. Click the Event Template: Always Choose radio button.
3. Click Ok.

• To set a specific event file to be automatically used as the template every time a new event is created:

1. Click Event | Options... from the Menu Bar. The Event tab of the Options dialog appears.
2. Click the Event Template: Use Default radio button.
3. Click the Default Template: Browse... button. The Open dialog appears.
4. Navigate to select the Event file to be used as the default template.
5. Click Open.
6. Click Ok.

• To create a new Event using the Always Choose template mode:

1. Create a new Event. The Choose An Event Template dialog appears.
2. Navigate to select the Event file to be used as a template.
3. Click Open.

• To create a new Event with the Use Default template mode:

1. Create a new Event. The event is automatically created from the default template file.

Template names can also be specified in Lynx.evt file, and the presence of a template name forces the template to be loaded, regardless of the template mode setting.  The default template name also specifies the directory for any templates specified in the Lynx.evt file. If the default template field is blank then the current event directory is used instead. This allows you to have your templates in a different directory from your events.
